Game Development

Games I've built or am building.

Minions of Darkness

Minions of Darkness was first invented by MIT's ET independent living group in 2010. I joined ET and started playing in 2017, and helped further develop and balance the game. More recently, I've made a web version of this game with additional game modes that can't be implemented in a board game (such as randomly-generated units), as well as a sophisticated AI system for playing the game. Its latest version, still in development and not yet on the public site, uses a single heuristic, measured in souls, for its attack, movement and spawning decisions: each unit is valued by its cost, rebate and board position, weighted by a fast estimate of the probability that the opponent removes or kills it on their next turn.

boop!

An idle game. Coming soon.

Exponential Idle custom theories

Exponential Idle is a math-themed idle game by Conic Games, and players can write extra “custom theories” for it in JavaScript. I've written two.

Basel Problem

Built around Euler's famous sum of inverse squares, 1/1 + 1/4 + 1/9 + …: its variables come from partial sums, and their powers scale with the sum. It is one of the game's official custom theories, published under the name Python's Koala. Source code.

Fibonacci Sequence

The currency grows through stepwise multipliers and a Fibonacci recurrence, and later milestones reveal Lucas numbers and the Tribonacci sequence hidden in the sequence. Not yet publicly released.
